Superior Tooling, a Raleigh based advanced manufacturer founded in 1985, specializes in tooling and molds for the plastic injection molding industry. Its youth apprenticeship program typically takes one or two apprentices every year. As a charter member of NCTAP, Superior Tooling’s apprenticeship program uses a hands-on approach to develop skills and intgerate basic training. Starting in a student’s junior year of high school, Superior Tooling’s apprenticeship is a four-year program that is divided into modules. Community college classes lead to an associate’s degree in medical engineering technology at Wake Technical Community College or in mechatronics in engineering technology at Vance Granville Community College.
