The Department of Public Safety has about 27,000 sworn law enforcement and civilian employees, along with nearly 12,000 North Carolina National Guard soldiers and airmen. The department's divisions include Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice, Emergency Management, N.C. National Guard, State Capitol Police and the State Highway Patrol.
