Benefits of Recruiting and Training Veterans

According to the U.S. Census data, there are almost 660,000 veterans living in North Carolina[1] and eight military bases in the state, it’s no wonder many of our ApprenticeshipNC client-sponsors recognize the benefits of recruiting and training veterans.

Veterans can receive training in any occupation approved for apprenticeship by the U.S. Department of Labor (US DOL). In addition, veterans can receive prior credit for previous experience gained and shorten the training time required. For registered apprenticeship training, veterans receive GI Bill benefits until training is completed or their benefits are depleted, whichever comes first. And veterans with the Post 9-11 GI Bill can transfer their benefits to their spouse or dependents.

Why Hire Veterans?

If you are looking for dependable, goal-oriented, focused team members, veterans fit the bill. According to Military.com, “Veterans are disciplined team players that can bolster any employer's business. What's more, hiring veterans is not only a good idea, it's good business.”

Both on-the-job learning & apprenticeship programs are available for veterans using their VA education benefits. Veterans in approved programs can use their GI Bill benefits and receive a tax-free stipend in addition to the entry-level wage and periodic wage progressions paid by employer. As with all other registered apprenticeships, veterans earn nationally recognized credentials upon completion of training.
