RALEIGH, N.C. – ApprenticeshipNC Director Kathryn Castelloes recently appeared on WNCN CBS-17's "My Carolina" to discuss the benefits of apprenticeship.

Registered apprenticeship is a training program designed to meet the needs of the employer by providing the employee with structured on-the-job learning, related instruction and a progressive wage scale. Registered apprentices earn state and national credentials certifying their skills.

ApprenticeshipNC is the state apprenticeship agency and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor. “All of our apprentices, when they complete the training successfully, they’re receiving credentials not only from the state of North Carolina, but from the U.S. Department of Labor as well,” Castelloes said.

Apprenticeships are available in a variety of occupations, Castelloes said, including construction, advanced, advanced manufacturing, information technology and healthcare.
